QUILT ART: Black Bay Area Quilters

The curator of this exhibit was William Hoskins.  The exhibit was available for public viewing from October 16, 2008 through December 23, 2008.

Library Collection:
The library contains 5,000 books on the history and culture of African and African Americans. Book on the history of Africa and the United States form the largest group in the Library. The literature collection consists of fiction, poetry, and drama by African and African American authors.

The Effie Lee Morris Children’s Literature Research Collection contains folklore, fiction, and non-fiction children books representing an African American focus.

Current periodicals consist of Ebony, Jet, Essence, The Black Scholar, Black Enterprise, and others. Pase issues of periodicals are available for research and use.

Archive Collection:
The Historical and Cultural Society Archive is a research only facility. It is one of the largest research archives on African American life in the West. It contains papers and mementos of San Francisco African American citizens, such as, Thomatra Scott, Elena Albert, Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett, Dr. Howard Thurman, and others.
